Availability
Wireless Priority Service (WPS) is available throughout
the Sprint PCS CDMA coverage area. To view
the Sprint PCS CDMA coverage area please visit the Sprint
website and click on "Coverage" from the menu. Enter
the zip code(s) for your operational area(s), and then click
on "Check Coverage".
Sprint PCS has completed deployment of WPS Full Operational Capability (FOC), which provides cellular voice calls with priority access to local radio channels when originating a WPS call or when terminating a WPS or GETS call. FOC also provides priority treatment for WPS calls on an end-to-end basis through nearly 90% of the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) and to any cellular phone that is served by any WPS-enabled network.
Please note that when roaming, WPS functionality may be available on other CDMA WPS-enabled networks. WPS functionality is not available when roaming on CDMA networks that are not WPS enabled or in service areas not covered by inter-carrier roaming agreements.
Service Requests
WPS is requested for Sprint PCS CDMA users through
the on-line GETS-WPS Information Delivery Service (G-WIDS). See
the Program Information section on how to obtain a Point of Contact
(POC) User ID and password to access G-WIDS. The following information
is needed to complete the on-line WPS service request for Sprint
PCS CDMA users:
- Each User’s 10 Digit Cellular Telephone Number
- The appropriate Sprint PCS CDMA Account Number. Accounts may
have one or more users. WPS charges will appear on this account.
Upon service activation an email is sent to
the POC and user advising that WPS has been activated. Users should
make a WPS test call when they are notified of service activation.
If the user is unable to complete the test call they should call
the user assistance number, located on the back of the GETS card.
That number is 1-800-818-4387 or 1-703-818-4387.
